Instagram Comes up With “Take a Break” Feature That Will Ask Teens to Take a Break When They Watch Harmful Content

Facebook-owned photosharing platform Instagram has announced to launch new measures to nudge teenagers away from harmful content that may affect their mental health and persuade them to “take a break” from the platform.

The new set of ‘take a break’ and ‘nudge’ features was announced by Nick Clegg, VP for global affairs and communications at Facebook, in an interview with CNN.

This comes days after former Facebook employee and whistleblower Frances Haugen publicized that Facebook research revealed Instagram is worse for teenagers than any other social media platform.

“We’re going to introduce something which I think will make a considerable difference, which is where our systems see that a teenager is looking at the same content over and over again, and it’s content which may not be conducive to their well being, we will nudge them to look at other content,” Clegg told CNN.

Clegg did not announce the timeline for the launch of these features; however, the testing will begin soon.

Blue Origin Reschedules William Shatner’s Space Flight by a Day

Blue Origin, the spaceflight company of Jeff Bezos, has announced plans to postpone the forthcoming flight that was scheduled to send Star Trek-famed actor William Shatner aboard.

The flight that was originally scheduled on October 12 has been delayed by a day due to anticipated bad weather.

Blue Origin released a statement saying, “Due to forecasted winds on Tuesday, October 12, Blue Origin’s mission operations team has made the decision to delay the launch of NS-18 and is now targeting Wednesday, October 13. Liftoff from Launch Site One is currently targeted for 8:30 am CDT / 13:30 UTC on Wednesday.”

Shatner, who is 90 years old, will be the oldest person ever to go to space. He will be accompanied by Chris Boshuizen (former NASA engineer and co-founder of Planet Labs), Glen de Vries (co-founder of Medidata), and Audrey Power (vice president of mission and flight operations of Blue Origin).

The flight will take Shatner and the NS-18 flight crew just beyond the Karman line, which is about 62 miles high. They will experience four minutes of weightlessness and also observe the curvature of the earth.

Mcdonald’s China to Give Away NFTs on 31st Anniversary

McDonald’s, the leading fast-food company in the world, has released a set of 188 nonfungible tokens (NFT) on October 8 to celebrate its 31st anniversary in the Chinese mainland market.

The NFTs are branded as “Big Mac Rubik’s Cube,” and are designed based on the three-dimensional structure of the new office headquarters of McDonald’s China, which was inaugurated along with the launch of the NFTs.

These NFT’s will be distributed among employees and consumers as a part of the giveaway by the company.

The NFTs are built on the Conflux blockchain and are developed in partnership with Cocafe, a digital asset creation agency of crypto collectibles.

Each NFT created is unique, indivisible, and unchangeable, according to the nature of NFTs.

However, this move to introduce NFTs by McDonald’s China in the market goes against the Chinese authority’s intent to ban all crypto operations in the country.

More lately, the ban by authorities has compelled crypto companies like Huobi, Binance, among others, to stop their operations in China.

But, despite China’s opposition, the worldwide crypto ecosystem continues to witness constant growth.
